In shaping Culture in Image 2016, we use the knowledge, experiences, projects and ideas from the cultural and creative sector. That is why we asked the sector to submit proposals and to provide a program component. This resulted in a program that meets the wishes and interests of the target group.

The conference starts with a plenary kick-off around the broad theme of ‘diversity and connection’. After an opening speech by Minister Bussemaker, there are contributions from: Nike Jonah, Connecting Dots, European Cultural Foundation, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group (BCMG). Nike Jonah has extensive experience in the theme of diversity in a broad spectrum of the arts and the creative industries, both in London and New York. From her role as Senior Diversity Officer at Arts Council England, she was responsible for designing the Decibel program. A strategic intervention to increase the diversity of profiles of artists in England.
Together with Nike Jonah Hassan Mahamdallie speaks , specialist in the field of diversity and equality in the arts and culture sector. Mahamdallie is the author of the unique approach of the English Arts Council: The Creative Case for Diversity.
Furthermore, Aruna Vermeulen, Janneke van der Wijk and Yassine Boussaid , under the leadership of chairman Dick-Gert Smid, will discuss the theme of diversity and connection. The plenary opening will be closed by a performance by the poet Derek Otte .
The program offers you a wide variety of sub-sessions, organized by the professional field, supplemented by extra in-depth sessions. In terms of content, the emphasis is on the themes of diversity, innovation, the labor market and policy & research. You can also visit the CultSpace where you can get acquainted with all kinds of organizations and projects.
- A Presentation is a substantive presentation by people from the sector, scientists and policy experts. There is room for questions afterwards.
- A Workshop is an interactive session in which subjects are dealt with as concretely and interactively as possible. This can take shape in different ways. Think of a debate, case discussion, round table discussion etc.
- The CultSpace is the market square where you can get to know various organizations and initiatives that present their projects during the day.
